Danish striker Obi, who was making his sixth top-flight appearance but first start in the competition, took his place in a United starting XI that had an average age of just 22 years and 270 days.

This was the third-youngest side named for a Premier League match, behind Middlesbrough's team at Fulham in May 2006 (20 years and 181 days) and Arsenal's side at Portsmouth in May 2009 (22 years and 237 days).

Who is Chido Obi?

Obi was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 29 November 2007.

Having joined local club KB as a youngster, Obi moved to England and joined Arsenal's Hale End academy aged 14, where his progress was little short of miraculous.

A prolific goalscorer, Obi was promoted to the Gunners' Under-18 side at the age of 15, marking his full debut with a hat-trick against Southampton before going on to feature for the Under-21 side just one month later.

The Dane's goalscoring prowess prompted a move to Man Utd in October 2024 and he made an instant impact, scoring a 14-minute hat-trick on his U18s debut in a 6-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

Obi was named in Man Utd's senior squad for the first time on 16 February 2025, making his senior debut as a late replacement for Casemiro in a 1-0 league defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

Sunday was Obi's sixth appearance for the Red Devils, but his first start - and he will hope to feature again in Man Utd's remaining three Premier League matches of the 2024/25 season.
