Henrikh Mkhitaryan says it is a "dream come true" to join Manchester United after signing a four-year contract, with the option of a further year, at Old Trafford.

The midfielder is Man Utd's third summer signing after leaving Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee, following the Red Devils' additions of Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Mkhitaryan, 27, scored 23 goals and provided 32 assists in all competitions in the 2015/16 campaign for Dortmund, and he netted 41 times in 140 appearances during his three years with the German club.

"I am very proud to join Manchester United, this move is a dream come true for me," Mkhitaryan told manutd.com. "I am excited to play for a club with such an illustrious history and hope to be part of it for a long time.

"I thank the trust the club and Jose Mourinho have put in me. Finally, I believe playing for such a great club honours my father's memory, and the inspiration and drive he gave to me when I was young."

The midfielder will become the first player from Armenia in the Premier League’s history. He is the country's all-time top scorer with 19 goals from 59 caps.

"He is a real team player with great skill, vision and also has a good eye for goal," Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho said. "I believe he will make an impact on the team very quickly as his style of play is suited to the Premier League."

Mkhitaryan could make his Premier League debut when Man Utd visit AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 13 August in Matchweek 1 of the 2016/17 campaign.
