Lincoln Financial Field, also known as The Linc, was built to replace the Eagles' previous home, Veterans Stadium.

In fact, the design of the stadium replicates the shape of an eagle, with wing-like canopies above the east and west stands.

Lincoln Financial Field is one of only five stadiums to be the home of both an NFL and college American football team.

Soccer History
Despite being purpose-built for American football games, the first ticketed event at Lincoln Financial Field was a friendly match between Manchester United and Barcelona in August 2003. Man Utd have returned multiple times since, while Chelsea have also played pre-season friendlies at The Linc.

Lincoln Financial Field hosted four matches at the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup and the stadium is one of the venues for the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup.

Early into the 2010 MLS season, Philadelphia Union used The Linc as a temporary home. While in May of the same year, the U.S. men's national soccer team beat Turkey 2-1 in their final match before the 2010 World Cup.

Arguably the biggest soccer match to take place at Lincoln Financial Field was the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup final. Mexico defeated Jamaica in front of a near-69,000 crowd.

Notable Events
The Philadelphia Eagles took to the field for the first time in a pre-season American football game against the New England Patriots in August 2003. On September 8, the Eagles hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first regular-season NFL match at the new stadium.

The Eagles have hosted four NFC Championship games at Lincoln Financial Field, including most recently on January 29, 2023 as they defeated San Francisco 49ers to advance to Super Bowl LVII (57).

Lincoln Financial Field is regularly the host of the Army-Navy Game and is considered by some to be the primary home of the event as the American football meeting has been played the most often in Philadelphia.

As part of the 2019 NHL Stadium Series, a series of matches played in football and baseball stadiums, the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in front of a record crowd for an ice hockey game in Pennsylvania - 69,620.

Bruce Springsteen was the first musician to play at The Linc and has been followed by a numbers of artists, including Kenny Chesney, U2, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Beyoncé, Guns N'Roses, Coldplay, Metallica, Ed Sheeran, The Rolling Stones and The Weeknd.

In August 2015, Kevin Hart became the first comedian to sell out an American football stadium in the USA.
