Manager Bio

Julen Lopetegui has taken charge of two Premier League clubs, having spells with Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United.

Wolves were bottom of the table when he first arrived in November 2022. Winning his first match in charge against Everton, the Spaniard went on to lead them to a 13th-place finish.

But he and the club parted company ahead of the 2023/24 season due to differences of opinion.

Ten months later, he returned to the Premier League. Lopetegui took over at the London club on 1 July 2024, having been appointed as successor to David Moyes.

But the Hammers won just six Premier League matches during the Spaniard's six-month tenure, which came to an end following a 4-1 defeat at Manchester City.

Lopetegui was manager of Sevilla before joining Wolves, leading them into the UEFA Champions League and winning the Europa League in 2019/20.

Before that he was head coach of Real Madrid and, prior to that, spent two years as manager of the Spain national team, a position he held after impressing in a two-year stint at Porto.

Lopetegui enjoyed a long playing career as a goalkeeper, making 149 appearances in LaLiga, representing both Real Madrid and Barcelona. He was capped once by Spain.
