Goals from Sam Stubbs, Ashley Fletcher and Marcus Tavernier earned Middlesbrough a 3-2 PL2 Division 2 victory over West Bromwich Albion at Aggborough.
Boosted by the return from injury of Rudy Gestede and the arrival of Sam McQueen, playing his first match since signing on loan from Southampton, Boro took the lead in the third minute when Stubbs scored from close range following a corner.
West Brom levelled on 18 minutes when Callum Morton struck a wonderful drive from 25 yards out, but Middlesbrough edged ahead again on 53 minutes through Fletcher’s deflected shot.
Boro went two goals ahead in the 71st minute when McQueen teed up Tavernier, who turned and shot in the area, and although Rekeem Harper scored from distance late on Boro held on for three points that lift them to eighth place.
Albion remain bottom with one point from five matches.
