Substitute Indiana Vassilev scored a late winner as Aston Villa edged past Fulham 1-0 in Premier League 2 Division 2.
It was Fulham who had the better of the chances in the first half at Villa Park. Sonny Hilton shot over the bar before Luca De La Torre was denied by goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.
The hosts gave minutes to Jonathan Kodjia, Kortney Hause and James Chester but it was 20-year-old midfielder Jack Clarke who set up the decisive goal in the 83rd minute.
He crossed for Vassilev, an 18-year-old midfielder from the United States, to head home and move Villa up to sixth place on 11 points. Fulham drop down to 10th on six points.
