After a record-breaking season for goals, will the 2019/20 Premier League campaign start with a bang?
The last campaign produced a record tally of 1,072 strikes, with 36 of those coming on the final day alone.
Yet 2018/19 actually began relatively slowly, with only 25 goals scored in Matchweek 1.
While Liverpool scored four against West Ham United on the opening weekend, eight teams drew a blank, including Southampton and Burnley, who shared a goalless draw.
How Matchweek 1 unfolded in 2018/19
The previous season started in more explosive fashion, with 31 strikes on Matchweek 1 of 2017/18 returning the fifth-highest total for the opening round of fixtures.
That was partly due to Arsenal's 4-3 win over Leicester City, the joint-highest scoring Matchweek 1 fixture in Premier League history.
The record for goals scored on the opening weekend is 36, set in 2003/04.
Fans eagerly awaiting the 2019/20 campaign will hope for similar fireworks straight away when Liverpool host Norwich City on Friday night.
