The Scout looks at the Fantasy Premier League potential of the summer signings ahead of the 2019/20 season.
Che Adams (SOU) £6.0m
The forward's shooting ability can make him a big target for FPL managers once Southampton's tough start is over.
Saints face nine of last season’s top 10 sides in the first 13 Gameweeks.
So investing in their key players should be put on hold until their fixtures improve in Gameweek 14.
But once the end of November comes around, Adams could thrive in FPL and also boost the prospects of his team-mates.
Adams enjoyed a prolific season for Birmingham City in 2018/19.
The forward scored 22 goals and supplied a further four assists over his 46 Championship appearances.
That eye for goal can help Saints this term.
Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse (both £6.0m) were Saints' top scorers last season with only seven goals apiece.
Nathan Redmond (£6.5m) recorded 74 shots, more than any team-mate, yet scored on only six occasions.
Adams v Saints' top goal threats
2018/19 | Adams | Ings | Ward-Prowse | Redmond |
---|---|---|---|---|
Goals | 22 | 7 | 7 | 6 |
Goal conversion | 19.3% | 12.5% | 22.6% | 8.1% |
Shots on target | 56 | 22 | 16 | 22 |
The underlying statistics further indicate that Adams could be a major all-round prospect.
His totals of 114 shots and 67 chances created last term were both more than any Southampton player.
Indeed, Adams’ tally of 56 shots on target was second only to the 64 of Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) in FPL.
At a bargain cost of £6.0m, Adams could emerge as a big value pick once he settles in the Premier League and Southampton's fixtures improve.
