Manchester City could equal Chelsea's Premier League record of nine successive opening-weekend wins if they can defeat West Ham United on Saturday.
The champions' streak dates back to 2011/12 when they overcame Swansea City 4-0 at home.
Victory in the 12:30 BST kick-off would pull Man City level with Chelsea's record, achieved between 2002/03 and 2010/11.
Happy hunting ground
Pep Guardiola's side travel to the capital with an impressive record against the Hammers.
City have won their last seven competitive matches against West Ham by an aggregate score of 23-3.
They have been particularly prolific at the London Stadium, scoring 17 goals, eight more than any other visitors at the venue.
City have also won more competitive matches at the Hammers' ground than any other away team, with four.
Hammers' hope
West Ham can draw hope from their encouraging record against reigning Premier League champions.
The Hammers have won three of their last five such matches at home.
However, the defending title-holders have only lost their opening match of the next league season on two previous occasions: Leicester City lost 2-1 at Hull City in 2016/17 and Chelsea suffered a 3-2 reverse at home against Burnley in 2017/18.
City managed to avoid the same fate last season when they won 2-0 at Arsenal on the opening weekend, and they are now just 90 minutes from joining Chelsea in the history books.
