After previously winning two matches on the bounce, AFC Bournemouth have suffered back-to-back defeats and sit only two points above the relegation zone.

Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur last time out but are only three points above Manchester United and could end the Matchweek outside the top four if they lose at Vitality Stadium.

Team news

AFC Bournemouth hope to have Nathan Ake (head) and Jefferson Lerma (back) in contention after the duo were forced to miss the defeat to Burnley last weekend.

David Brooks (ankle), Arnaut Danjuma (foot), Chris Mepham (knee) and Lloyd Kelly (thigh) all continue their rehabilitation from injury.

Chelsea have four confirmed absentees for Saturday's match with N'Golo Kante (thigh), Tammy Abraham (ankle), Christian Pulisic (tendon) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (hamstring) all sidelined.

However Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be in the squad and could feature for the first time since May 2019.

Did you know?

None of the nine previous Premier League meetings between these sides have been drawn. AFC Bournemouth have won four and Chelsea have won five, with the away team victorious on six occasions.

The last 12 goals in meetings between these teams have come in the second half. Indeed, only two of AFC Bournemouth's 11 Premier League goals against Chelsea have been scored before half-time, with the Cherries losing both times.

Only Manchester City have won more matches and kept more clean sheets against Chelsea than AFC Bournemouth's four victories and four shutouts since they were promoted in 2015. The Cherries are looking to complete a league double over the Blues for the first time.

Olivier Giroud has been involved in five goals in his three league starts against the Cherries, scoring one and setting up four.
