Manuel Lanzini’s spectacular stoppage-time equaliser at Tottenham Hotspur has been voted the October 2020 Budweiser Goal of the Month.

The West Ham United midfielder ran on to a loose ball and unleashed a thunderous shot from 25 yards that hit the crossbar and post before going in.

Lanzini's goal completed a remarkable comeback for the Hammers, who claimed a 3-3 draw after being 3-0 down with 10 minutes remaining at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“When I came on to the pitch, I was just thinking about what I could do to help the team," Lanzini said after being presented with his award. "I never anticipated what was going to happen, but these things do happen in football!

“It is one of the best goals I’ve scored in the Premier League so far, if not the best. It was very emotional for everyone. The team celebration was the best!"

Lanzini had gone a year-and-a-half without scoring in the Premier League but the 27-year-old says his London-derby strike at Spurs has helped him to rediscover his form.

“It’s been a strange year for me, with a lot of ups and downs," he told West Ham's official website. "I haven’t been able to consolidate my position in the team, but this goal has boosted my confidence, I’m back in form and it shows what I can do."

He is the first West Ham player to win the prize since Andy Carroll did so for his scissor kick versus Crystal Palace in January 2017.

Lanzini’s effort was chosen by a panel of experts combined with a public vote, beating seven other contenders.
