Match summary

25 Jan 2021

Ben Knight rescued a point but Manchester City missed the chance to go top of Premier League 2 Division 1 with a 1-1 draw with fourth-placed Blackburn Rovers.

Blackburn went ahead after 17 minutes when Sam Burns found the bottom corner from 10 yards out.

Man City defender Claudio Gomes prevented the lead from being doubled with a superb piece of defending after Jack Vale had rounded the goalkeeper.

Knight then equalised from close range on 68 minutes before being brought down late on when through on goal, resulting in a straight red card for Blackburn's Louie Annesley.

City move up to second, level on points with their opponents and one point behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur with a match in hand.
