Leicester v Everton

Match preview

21 Dec 2016
Ronald Koeman, Everton manager

Danny Drinkwater is back in training and Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri will give him a test to see if he can play on Boxing Day. Jamie Vardy (three matches), Robert Huth and Christian Fuchs (one each) are suspended.

Everton goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is doubtful for this Boxing Day encounter after injuring his leg in a collision with Leighton Baines during the Merseyside derby, although the left-back is expected to be available, while James McCarthy will be out for two to three weeks with a hamstring problem.

Yannick Bolasie and Muhamed Besic are both out with knee injuries.

Did you know?

Leicester did the double over Everton last season on their way to the title, for the first time since 1985-86.

The Foxes have conceded a goal in their last 10 Premier League matches – only Hull are on a longer run without a clean sheet (15 matches).

Everton are unbeaten in their last four Premier League away matches on Boxing Day, scoring one goal in each (W2 D2 L0).

Everton have lost only two of their last 13 Premier League matches against a reigning champion (W6 D5 L2).

What the managers say

Claudio Ranieri "Of course we have to change but I’m very pleased with my players because also last season when Jamie didn’t play we scored four goals."

Ronald Koeman "We can't find a better example of how difficult it is in the Premier League. [Leicester] evolve in the Champions League, but it's not the same Premier League season for them. That's normal."
