West Ham v Man Utd

Match preview

28 Dec 2016
Swansea City v West Ham United, Andy Carroll goal cele

Eric Bailly will miss Manchester United's visit to West Ham United as he is leaving immediately to join Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Wayne Rooney has "a little chance" to play, according to Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho, while Michael Carrick is more likely to recover from an illness that ruled him out of the 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough.

Mark Noble is doubtful for West Ham after being forced off in the 1-0 defeat at Leicester City after a heavy challenge from Daniel Amartey. Diafra Sakho, Arthur Masuaku, Alvaro Arbeloa and Gokhan Tore are long-term absentees.

Did you know?

West Ham are unbeaten in their last four Premier League meetings with Manchester United (W1 D3). They have never gone five games unbeaten them in their English league history.

Man Utd lost away at West Ham last season, in the last ever match at the Boleyn Ground - they have not lost consecutive away fixtures against West Ham since December 2007.

Slaven Bilic could become only the second manager to remain unbeaten in his first four Premier League encounters with the Red Devils (Ruud Gullit the other).

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored three goals in Manchester United's two previous encounters with West Ham this season (one in Premier League, two in EFL Cup).

What the managers say

Jose Mourinho: "It’s very hard, especially when you see the intensity of this game; you can imagine that people need to rest, but there is no time to rest, so let’s go to London and enjoy the game against West Ham and try to get the points."
