Sunderland moved to the top of Premier League Cup Group B with a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City.

Rees Greenwood put Sunderland in front after Ethan Robson's strike was parried on 25 minutes.

Tom Beadling made it 2-0 four minutes later as he found the net from Elliot Embleton's driven free-kick.

The Black Cats remain unbeaten in the competition thanks to the win, moving three points clear of bottom club Cardiff and one ahead of their their other group opponents, Blackburn Rovers and Burnley.
