The Scout looks at the Fantasy Premier League prospects of the three promoted sides in defence and attack.
Luton Town attack
Carlton Morris arrives in the Premier League as the top-scoring player among the promoted sides.
The striker was a huge influence in his debut campaign for Luton, scoring 20 of their 57 goals in the Championship and assisting a further seven.
Luton's most goal involvements 2022/23
Player | Goal involvements | Goals | Assists | Mins per goal involvement |
Morris | 27 | 20 | 7 | 136.8 |
Adebayo | 13 | 8 | 5 | 271.0 |
Doughty | 7 | 2 | 5 | 348.3 |
Clark | 7 | 3 | 4 | 484.3 |
Morris’ total of 27 goal involvements was more than twice of any team-mate, with his fellow forward Elijah Adebayo next best on 13.
Given that no other Luton player was involved in more than seven goals, the importance of Morris and Adebayo in the Hatters’ 3-5-2 formation is obvious.
The underlying statistics from the previous campaign also show Morris' all-round style of play.
Luton’s attacking stats
Player | Shots | Shots in box | Chances created |
Morris | 124 | 102 | 53 |
Adebayo | 93 | 83 | 35 |
Clark | 63 | 33 | 48 |
His total of 102 shots in the box was more than three times the 33 of Jordan Clark for Luton.
In addition, Morris created 53 chances, a total bettered by just two team-mates, marking him out as their obvious pick in attack for the upcoming campaign.
His output suggests the Luton striker is likely to be the most expensive promoted player, coming in around the £6.0m mark.
If he can maintain his momentum in the Premier League, Morris’ influence on Luton can make him a strong contender as managers’ third forward in Fantasy.
