Aston Villa were in a ruthless mood against Everton as they claimed an emphatic 4-0 win at Villa Park to earn their first victory of the season.

After an evenly contested start, Villa took the lead through captain John McGinn in the 18th minute.
Moussa Diaby started the attack by driving through Everton’s defence before playing the ball right to Leon Bailey, who cut the ball back for McGinn to convert from close range.
Matters got worse for the Toffees only six minutes later when Douglas Luiz converted a penalty after Jordan Pickford had fouled Ollie Watkins.
In conceding the spot-kick, Pickford has now given away five penalties since joining Everton in 2017/18, the joint-most of any goalkeeper in the Premier League during this time.
Pickford did produce an outstanding reflex save to tip Diaby’s flying volley on to a post and away, but to compound Everton’s first-half misery, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was withdrawn with a facial injury on his first start of the season.
There was more injury woe for the Toffees shortly after the break with Alex Iwobi being forced off after clutching his hamstring.
Bailey scored Villa's third on 51 minutes with a low finish after Everton had switched off from Lucas Digne's throw-in.
The closest the Toffees came to a goal was through Neal Maupay, who drifted in at the far post before being denied by Emiliano Martinez.
Villa substitute Jhon Duran added a fourth only 50 seconds after being substituted on, intercepting a throw-in from Ashley Young to race in and score his first Premier League goal, sealing Villa's eighth consecutive home win, their longest ever run in the competition.
The timing of his goal meant it was the quickest Villa player to achieve this feat since John Carew in October 2009, also against Everton.
For Everton though it is a day that reflects their poor start to the season. They will end the day bottom of the League table for the first time since 1 October 2010 and it is only the third time in the club's history that they have lost both their opening matches while failing to score in either fixture.
