Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero after Tottenham Hotspur's 2-2 draw with Manchester United.
Both centre-backs started alongside each other for the first time since Spurs' 4-1 loss to Chelsea last November as Postecoglou hailed the performance of both players.
"Micky and Romero, to come in literally with a week’s training and perform like that here, I can’t speak highly enough of them," the Spurs head coach told the club's official website.
"They both got through the game okay."
Postecoglou also allayed fears that Van de Ven suffered an injury saying that he only had cramp at the end of the match.
"It was cramp, yes. He gave everything," he said.
Promising debut from Werner
With several players out through injury or away on international duty, Postecoglou opted to start one of his January signings, Timo Werner.
The former Chelsea forward was lively throughout and delivered an assist on his debut, playing in Rodrigo Bentancur to smash in Spurs' second equaliser as Postecoglou lauded Werner's impact.
"Timo had two training sessions and played 60 minutes for the club. He was outstanding," Postecoglou said.
"He hasn't started a game for ages but I saw today I think he can be really exciting for us once he get to understand our game and gets up to speed with our training.
"You could see there were little moments today, he was always a threat and I think he will enjoy his football here."
