Mohamed Salah seems to be a man on a mission after helping to fire Liverpool into a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
At the age of 32, the "Egyptian king" is leading the way for goal involvements, with 18 so far. Salah has scored 11 times, moving one goal behind Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, while his seven assists are second only to Bukayo Saka’s chart-topping 10.
Salah has either scored or supplied an assist in 11 of Liverpool's 13 matches. The 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest and the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace are the only two encounters in which he has not had a goal involvement.
Sunday’s 2-0 triumph over Manchester City was the 36th match in which Salah has both scored AND assisted, a tally that puts him level with Wayne Rooney.
Comparison with Salah's previous seasons
Remarkably, Salah's 18 goal involvements so far in 2024/25 are not his best return at this stage of a campaign.
Back in 2021/22, Salah had scored the same number of goals - 11 - but he had one more assist than this season, in what would ultimately be his second-best campaign for such returns, with a combined total of 36.
Salah’s first season at Liverpool in 2017/18 was his best for goal involvements. He scored what was then a record-equalling 32 goals in a 38-match season, as well as providing 10 assists.
In our latest episode of The Breakdown, above, James Allcott looks closely at how Salah is thriving under the tactics of new Liverpool boss Arne Slot and is delivering more assists than normal.

Salah has already set a Fantasy record
The Liverpool talisman has also made the BEST EVER start to a season in the Fantasy Premier League, racking up a record number of points over the first 13 Gameweeks.
Salah's tally of 133 points surpasses the 131 he set at the same stage in 2021/22 and is 38 more than the equivalent total he had in 2017/18, when he went on to amass the highest ever number of Fantasy points in a full season, with 303.
