Premier League board member Mai Fyfield has been appointed an CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in the King’s annual New Year’s honours list.
Fyfield, who was re-elected to the Premier League Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director for a further three-year term in September, receives the CBE for services to the sports and broadcasting industries. She is also on the boards of Roku Inc and BBC Commercial, and chairs the Premier League’s Remuneration Committee.
Mai was first appointed to the Premier League Board in October 2021 and brings significant expertise from across the sports and media industries. She was previously the Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer at Sky, responsible for leading strategy and commercial partnerships across the group. During her almost 20-year tenure, she was a key player in the growth and diversification of the business.
Everyone at the Premier League would like to congratulate Mai on her appointment.
Mai joins a number of people from across football who have been recognised in the King's New Year Honours List for 2025.
Moyes recognised
One of the Premier League's most experienced managers David Moyes has also been appointed an OBE, for services to football. The Scot has managed 697 matches in the Premier League, the third-highest number in the competition’s history, taking charge at Everton, Manchester United, Sunderland and West Ham United twice, leaving the east London club in the summer.
The 61-year-old is keen to add that total of 697 Premier League matches, telling BBC Sport: "If there is another part to it, so be it. But I would only want it to be a good part. I wouldn't want to be coming in and doing something which is very difficult.
"I don't want to be at the bottom of the league and fighting relegation which I have had a few times, so we will see how things go."
Southgate knighted
Another former Premier League manager honoured is Gareth Southgate. The former Middlesbrough boss has been knighted for his time as manager of the English national team.
Others in the world of football who have been recognised in the annual honours lists are the former Liverpool captain and broadcaster Alan Hansen (MBE) and the former Trust Chair of the EFL, John Nixon (MBE) and ex-Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Corrigan (MBE).
The Premier League would like to congratulate them all on their honours.
