Craig Shakespeare says the 2017 Premier League Asia Trophy presents a perfect opportunity to show what Leicester City are all about.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for us,” says Shakespeare of the Hong Kong tournament starting on 19 July.
“We can bed the new lads in but also showcase Leicester City. You see how fanatical the Asian supporters are. It’ll be a full house.“
The Asia Trophy will be contested by four Premier League clubs for the first time this year. West Bromwich Albion are Leicester’s first opponents, on Tuesday, before they meet one of Crystal Palace or Liverpool three days later.
Shakespeare believes the high standard of their opponents will only benefit Leicester.
“Sometimes you can play abroad and, no disrespect to the opposition, but you’ve seen in the past where it’s 7-0, 5-0, he added.
“I think the quality in the tournament is really high and I wanted that high calibre of opposition.”
