Norwich City fought back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 Division 2 draw against a Newcastle United side that included Jonjo Shelvey at St James' Park.
Shelvey was making his first appearance since he was sent off on the opening weekend of the Premier League season against Tottenham Hotspur.
He started the move that led to Luke Charman giving the Magpies a 10th-minute lead, and two minutes later Macaulay Gillesphey made it 2-0 with a header from a corner.
Devonte Aransibia fired the Canaries back into the contest shortly after half-time. Then in the 83rd minute he was fouled in the penalty area and captain Adam Phillips stepped up to slot home Norwich's equaliser.
Fourth-placed Newcastle next play Brighton & Hove Albion at Crawley on Monday 18 September. Norwich, who are ninth, host Blackburn Rovers at Carrow Road the day before.
What a fantastic comeback from our U23s tonight! 👏
