As managers face a forward crisis in Fantasy Premier League, The Scout starts a series profiling six strikers who can help them cope.
The problem
Free-scoring forwards are vital for any FPL manager.
But form and injuries have made it almost impossible to build a settled strike force.
For two successive Gameweeks, the most-bought forward has become the most sold a week later.
Harry Kane’s (£12.7m) August drought caused early concern, then Sergio Aguero’s (£11.6m) Gameweek 5 hat-trick sparked a huge surge in transfers as more than 770,000 brought him in.
But the striker’s injury last week instantly reversed that trend, with more than 854,000 selling Aguero ahead of Gameweek 7.
Many went for an in-form Alvaro Morata (£10.3m), who became the new hot property, claiming 519,000 new owners, with 206,000+ making the swap from Aguero.
But the Chelsea striker was withdrawn early with a hamstring injury against Manchester City and remains a doubt for Gameweek 8. More than 197,000 have already transferred him out.
Where do we go from here?
Kane's revived form, with 11 goals in his last six appearances in all competitions, provides some comfort.
The 13 points at Huddersfield Town in Gameweek 7 have made the Spurs striker the new top target, gaining 219,000+ owners, who can only hope he avoids the misfortune that has befallen Aguero and Morata.
Gabriel Jesus (£10.5m) has also picked up an army of new owners, encouraged by his likely starting role with Aguero sidelined.
But the other candidates are not so clear.
Both Romelu Lukaku (£11.8m) and Alexandre Lacazette (£10.4m) have made minor gains in ownership ahead of Gameweek 8.
Lower down the price brackets, the options appear limited.
