This weekend the Premier League celebrates Rainbow Laces to support LGBT people within sport.
Paul Amann is the LGBT Supporters’ Representative for Liverpool FC.
As a gay, mixed-race young man, growing up in the late Seventies and early Eighties, football wasn’t a place where Paul felt safe.
And as a Liverpool fan, the anthem, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” rang hollow to him.
But if you fast forward to today and the game is transformed.
It’s not about being black or white, gay or straight, it’s about being part of the LFC family, which Paul is as he tells in the video above.
