With the vote for the EA SPORTS Player of the Month open, we profile the eight December nominees.
Marcos Alonso
Alonso was a pivotal figure at both ends in December for Chelsea.
The wing-back started all of Chelsea's seven matches, completing all but one, as Antonio Conte's side won five, drew one and lost one.
The Spaniard contributed to four successive clean sheets, against Southampton, Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Stoke City, but his attacking prowess shone through.
After an assist in a 3-1 win at Huddersfield Town, Alonso's free-kick beat Southampton.
He added to that with another goal in the next match, against Brighton, to end December on five for the season, the most of any defender in the Premier League.
What his manager says
Conte: "To score five goals up to now, for a wing-back, is a great achievement."
