Liverpool have confirmed a deal has been reached to sign Loris Karius from Mainz.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper has agreed a long-term contract with Liverpool after completing a medical on Merseyside.
Karius, who has represented Germany at Under-21 level, made 34 of his 91 Bundesliga appearances last season, keeping nine clean sheets to help Mainz to a sixth-place finish.
"It's a very good feeling and it's an honour to play for a club like this," Karius, who will wear the No 1 shirt next season, told Liverpoolfc.com. "They have a special history and the fans are amazing here, so I look forward to playing at Anfield.
"I spoke to the manager and I had a good feeling afterwards because he told me what he wants to do with the club and with the players.
"It was a good talk with him and after that I was convinced this was the right decision."
Karius was at Manchester City's academy between 2009-11, where he featured for the Under-18 and Under-21 sides, becomes Liverpool's second summer signing after agreeing a deal for Joel Matip when the defender's contract with Schalke expires at the end of next month.
He will officially become registered on 1 July and could feature when Liverpool face Chelsea in the International Champions Cup at the Rose Bowl, Pasadena, USA on 27 July.
