Middlesbrough have completed the transfer of Antonio Barragan.
The 29-year-old defender joins from Valencia on a three-year deal and becomes Aitor Karanka's sixth signing of the summer after Viktor Fischer, Bernardo Espinosa, Marten de Roon, Victor Valdes, and Jordan McGhee.
"He is a player we know a lot about and he is a good addition to the squad," Karanka, the Boro manager, told mfc.co.uk. "He is a good lad, and he has played a lot of games for Valencia."
Barragan returns to England after spending the 2005/06 season at Liverpool, but without making a Premier League appearance.
Boro continue their preparations for the 2016/17 Premier League season with a friendly at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, 16 July.
The opening fixture of their return to the Premier League since relegation in 2009 will be at home to Stoke City on Saturday, 13 August.
