Louis Saha's double secured a home win for Everton and cut Chelsea's lead at the top of the table to a single point.
Florent Malouda put Chelsea ahead in the 17th minute, but Saha headed in an equaliser before the break and then grabbed the winner with a second-half strike.
Chelsea were left one point ahead of second-placed Manchester United, who gained ground despite drawing with Aston Villa, while Everton remained ninth.
2015: Hull City 2-0 Aston Villa
Striker Dame N’Doye marked his first Premier League start for Hull City with a goal and an assist as Steve Bruce's side beat Aston Villa 2-0, leapfrogging their visitors out of the relegation zone.
N'Doye set up Nikica Jelavic's 22nd-minute opener and then doubled the hosts' advantage in the second half.
Hull climbed to 16th place by the end of the midweek fixtures, moving one point ahead of Aston Villa, who were left inside the drop zone on goal difference.
