1999: Newcastle United 4-1 Coventry City
Newcastle United cruised to a 4-1 victory over Coventry City despite initially falling behind.
Noel Whelan opened the scoring for Coventry in the 18th minute, but Alan Shearer levelled a minute later and Newcastle eased clear in the second half.
Gary Speed and Louis Saha both found the net within the space of three minutes, and Shearer struck again before the end.
Newcastle climbed into 10th spot while Coventry slipped to 17th, one place and one point above the relegation zone.
1999: Everton 5-0 Middlesbrough
Nick Barmby scored an early brace as Everton ended a seven-match winless run in style, beating Middlesbrough 5-0.
Barmby struck inside the opening 60 seconds and then made it 2-0 in the 16th minute, while Olivier Dacourt, Marco Materazzi and David Unsworth all struck in the space of 12 second-half minutes.
Everton, who had lost their three previous league matches, moved up to 15th, three places and four points above the relegation zone. Middlesbrough slid to 11th.
