2009: Adebayor swaps Arsenal for Man City

Manchester City completed the transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal.

The Togo striker hit the ground running in his first season at the Etihad Stadium, scoring 14 Premier League goals in 26 appearances, including a third-minute debut goal against Blackburn Rovers.

Adebayor became one of just six players to score in his first four matches for City, one of which was a memorable strike against the Gunners.

He scored just one more goal for City and fell down in the pecking order behind strikers Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez.

After 35 PL appearances, he spent the second half of the 2010/11 season at Real Madrid, before joining Tottenham Hotspur the following August, in a loan deal that became permanent.

He spent four seasons at White Hart Lane before a brief spell at Crystal Palace took his PL goal count to 97 in 242 appearances.
