1992: A new era begins

The inaugural Premier League season kicked off, replacing the old First Division, as 22 teams set out to be crowned champions.

Sheffield United's Brian Deane scored the first Premier League goal with a header after five minutes as the Blades beat Manchester United 2-1.

Having been two goals down before the break, Norwich City fought back brilliantly to beat Arsenal 4-2 at Highbury.

Alan Shearer struck twice for Blackburn Rovers in a 3-3 draw at Crystal Palace, who equalised in stoppage time through Simon Osborn, while Oldham Athletic left it late to earn a point at Chelsea.

2001: Kasey Keller joins Tottenham Hotspur

After two seasons in Spain, former Leicester City goalkeeper Kasey Keller returned to the Premier League and signed for Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.

The American goalkeeper spent a little over three seasons at White Hart Lane, making 85 PL appearances and playing every minute of the 2002/03 and 2003/04 campaigns.

He had a month's loan spell with Southampton from November to December in 2004, playing four top-flight matches, and then joined Borussia Monchengladbach on a permanent deal in January 2005.
