MAN OF THE MATCH?

Match summary

West Ham United ended their run of five successive Premier League defeats and eased their relegation fears with a close-fought 1-0 victory over Swansea City.

The hosts threatened twice through Manuel Lanzini's free-kicks, while Robert Snodgrass’s header was saved on the line by Lukasz Fabianski.

The Swansea goalkeeper was also forced to repel Andre Ayew’s shot but could do nothing to stop the winner, Cheikhou Kouyate’s 25-yard drive on the stroke of half-time.

Sam Byram fired wide on 55 minutes and Ayew was denied doubling the lead late on by Fabianski.

Byram blocked Gylfi Sigurdsson's attempted equaliser late on as West Ham held on to move eight points clear of third-from-bottom Swansea, who lie two points adrift of safety.
