George Miller scored the only goal of the match as Middlesbrough beat Newcastle United 1-0 at Heritage Park.
Victory leaves Boro joint top of the Divison 2 table alongside Blackburn Rovers, and ends Newcastle's 100% record.
It was a tentative opening to the match, with each side trying their luck from distance in search of a breakthrough.
But Boro began to build up the pressure and Miller was in the right place to tap in after 45 minutes.
Dan Barlaser nearly equalised for Newcastle in the final minutes, but his effort went just wide.
