Two goals in three first-half minutes meant Everton and Huddersfield Town shared the points at Goodison Park.
Kurt Zouma went close on his Toffees debut but his 13th-minute shot flew over the bar.
Philip Billing headed Huddersfield into the lead from a 34th-minute corner but Dominic Calvert-Lewin restored parity just two minutes later, glancing in Lucas Digne's cross.
Gylfi Sigurdsson came close to scoring the winner but steered Ademola Lookman's cross just wide with 15 minutes remaining.
The result takes Everton to seventh place with six points, while Huddersfield climb out of the relegation zone to 17th.
