Maurizio Sarri set a record but was frustrated as Everton held his Chelsea side to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian became the first manager not to lose in his opening 12 matches in the competition but saw his side struggle to create in the first half.
Alvaro Morata was denied in the first minute after the break by a good save from Jordan Pickford, who later also saved from Eden Hazard.
Marcos Alonso, who was denied by Pickford just before the break, hit a post while Willian drove just wide.
At the other end, Gylfi Sigurdsson had a shot tipped over by Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The point keeps Chelsea third on 28 points, while Everton stay ninth on 19.
