Bryan Mbeumo's stoppage-time penalty completed a late turnaround as Brentford won 2-1 against Watford.
Mbeumo sent Daniel Bachmann the wrong way in the fifth minute of added time after substitute Saman Ghoddos had been fouled by William Troost-Ekong.
Brentford were trailing to Emmanuel Dennis' header from Tom Cleverley's 24th-minute corner. It was the Nigerian's 12th goal involvement of the season, second only to Mohamed Salah.
But Watford were unable to keep their first clean sheet of the season as they conceded an equaliser in the 84th minute. Pontus Jansson headed in his first Premier League goal from a flick-on by another Brentford substitute, Marcus Forss.
Mbeumo had the final say with his first home goal of the season to take Brentford into the top half, in ninth place with 20 points.
A Watford win would have left the bottom three six points from safety, so Burnley, Newcastle United and Norwich City will be relieved to be only one win behind, all with at least one match in hand.
