FAREWELL GW5!

Thank you for your company on a night which wasn't quite as packed with goals as we've come to expect in a remarkable start to the season. But still so much to admire as we bid a fond farewell to Gameweek five. See you on Friday when Leeds will once again be on display, taking on a red-hot Aston Villa side.

Until then...

In a nutshell:
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa:

"In the first half we should have established a difference, in the second half it was more even. We had the sensation that we could unbalance them. We created enough opportunities to establish a lead. I don't think they were better than us but they neutralised our game better. The game was very hard, very physical and there was a lot of interruptions. Every game you have opportunities to generate corrections."

Premier League pundit Andy Townsend:

"Outside of the top five or six teams, Raul Jimenez is the best striker in the Premier League. If he was 25 or 26-year-old age bracket it would be very hard for Wolves to keep hold of him with the big clubs offerign big money. But because he's nearing 30 it's a slightly different story. He can do it all, he can hold the ball up, run in behind, finish - he's some player, and he's so honest and so hard working."

What next for Leeds?

You've got to go back to December 2002 for the last time Leeds won a Premier League game in which they conceded the first goal, against Sunderland (2-1).

Sure that stat will change soon; they'll know they can't waste chances like they did in the first half. They had nine shots, with only two on target.

The Scout says:

"Even though he has only made two appearances this season, Max Kilman (Β£4.0m) is now the joint top-scoring FPL defender priced Β£4.5m or under. The budget man has two clean sheets, an assist and SIX bonus for a total of 21 points."

LEADING BY EXAMPLE - Wolves so good in defence tonight
Leeds United v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Premier League

Wolves match winner Raul Jimenez:

"It's always good to win at this kind of stadium. We knew this game would be tough but we had the personality to take this result. Leeds are very tough. They go man to man, we knew it would be difficult. After losing two in a row now we win two in a row, it gives us a lot of confidence"

πŸ”Ί Movers and shakers πŸ”»

That win means Wolves jump up to sixth, above Leeds who drop down to tenth. I expect come May they'll both be in and around the European places based on tonight's showing.

How to do it...
Premier League pundit Paul Ince:

"Leeds looked like they ran out of energy, ran out of steam in the second half. You can't go hell for leather all the time, and Wolves are masters at sitting tight and defending a lead once they get in front - it was a job well done from Wolves."

FULL-TIME Leeds 0-1 Wolves

A game of two halves at Elland Road after dominant Leeds display in the first period but as Wolves so often do, they grew into the match and took the game to Bielsa's men in the second half and the points were sealed with twenty minutes remaining when Raul Jimenez's deflected effort wrongfooted Illan Meslier.

"Who knows with this season... Meslier will get the winner for Leeds."

!!!

Leeds 0-1 Wolves (90 mins)

SIX MINUTES of added time klaxon!

Leeds 0-1 Wolves (88 mins)

Just what Adama Traore was brought on to do, get possession and run into the channels. But he's hounded out by three Leeds shirts as the hosts pump it forward. Have we got time for more late Premier League drama?

Fine block from Willy Boly moments ago
SUBS Leeds 0-1 Wolves (80 mins)

Wolves' turn to be put on the back foot as Jack Harrison finds himself in a great position on the left hand side of the box following a flick-on from Pablo Hernandez. He finds the Spaniard with a return pass but his effort deflects over the bar.

Raphinha makes his Leeds debut in place of Harrison while Ruben Neves comes on for Joao Moutinho.

In good company, Raul Jimenez

Since the start of last season, Raul Jimenez (30) is one of only four Premier League players to have scored 30+ goals in all competitions alongside Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

THE RAUL DEAL - Jimenez strikes again for Wolves
Premier League - Leeds United v Wolverhampton Wanderers

SUBS Leeds 0-1 Wolves (76 mins)

A couple of Leeds changes to report following that Wolves goal with Helder Costa and Pascal Struijk replaced by Ian Poveda-Ocampo and Pablo Hernandez. Will they salvage something? Just over fifteen minutes remaining.

Premier League pundit David Prutton:

"It's a cruel one for Leeds. We didn't see too much of Jimenez in the first half but he's got a glorious way of manoeuvring the football, he has it under his spell at all times. The goalkeeper has absolutely no chance once it comes off Phillipps' forehead."

He did brilliantly
GOAL! Leeds 0-1 Wolves (JIMENEZ, 70 mins)

We do finally have our Monday goal - and it's a huge slice of luck from a Wolves point of view, not that they'll care much! A long, searching ball finds Raul Jimenez on the right after Pascal Struijk slips. The Mexican cuts inside and his effort deflects off Kalvin Phillips and nestles in the bottom corner beyond the stranded Illan Meslier.

Leeds 0-0 Wolves (68 mins)

A few minutes after Kalvin Phillips is booked for a foul on Joao Moutinho, the Portuguese collects a yellow card of his own for pulling back Mateusz Klich.

SUB Leeds 0-0 Wolves (65 mins)

Here comes Adama Traore, as Daniel Podence - who has been Wolves' brightest spark in this match - departs.

Joe Mather emails matchdaylive@premierleague.com:

"Leeds have an excellent side as they’ve shown us so far this year. They’re definitely going to be challengers for European football in my opinion."

BIG CALL - The Elland Road scoreboard confirms the VAR decision
Premier League - Leeds United v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Leeds 0-0 Wolves (60 mins)

The game's got a lovely feel about it now as both sides attack with intent. Rodrigo Moreno's cross is well dealt with by Max Kilman and down the other end, Raul Jimenez's mazy run ends as he stumbles under pressure. Surely it won't be long until we see Adama Traore for the visitors.

Premier League pundit David Prutton:

"The finish was sensational from Saiss. Take nothing away from the finish, it was fantastic - but it was offside in the build-up, so it's the right decision. You look along the line and he is ahead of the last Leeds defender."

Leeds 0-0 Wolves (57 mins)

Wolves are certainly on top in this second half and Daniel Podence is causing the hosts problems on the left, right and middle. He drifts inside on his weaker left foot and draw a fine save from Illan Meslier down to his right.

If only it worked like that..!
NO GOAL! Leeds 0-0 Wolves (54 mins)

Hold on a minute. On second viewing, the VAR has ruled out the goal as Daniel Podence had strayed just offside out on the right wing before he brought down the sweeping pass out from the Wolves back. As you were; just over 35 minutes to find that goal!

GOAL! Leeds 0-1 Wolves (SAISS, 53 mins)

We have our first goal - and what a goal it is too. Daniel Podence is found with a wonderful diagonal ball out on the right, the Portuguese plays a deep cross which Romain Saiss controls and expertly dispatches into the bottom corner.

Premier League pundit David Prutton:

"Wolves have got to get closer to Leeds right from the start of the second half, give them less time on the ball and press harder."

A view from the Leeds corner
Leeds 0-0 Wolves (46 mins)

Back up and running. Reckon we'll find a Monday goal? I hope so!

The hosts need to find that cutting edge

Leeds had nine shots in the first half - only Chelsea against West Brom (11) have had more attempts in the opening 45 minutes of a Premier League game this season without scoring.

RULED OUT - Bamford's early effort chalked off
Premier League - Leeds United v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Patrik Pinter emails matchdaylive@premierleague.com:

"Greetings from Slovakia! πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡°

I need my captain Raul Jimenez to save my Gameweek! When I captained first time this season he delivered 0 points with his own goal so I hope to get something from him at the other end this time! πŸ˜€"
Premier League pundit Andy Townsend:

"There is some genuine intent from both teams. Leeds started the better, they were very committed, very strong early on but they just couldn't find a way through. Wolves have improved, got a bit more organised and slowly, gradually got back into the game themselves."

Very composed first half
HALF-TIME Leeds 0-0 Wolves

Almost the opener from Wolves right on the stroke of half-time. The visitors work the ball down the right and it's eventually played to Daniel Podence in the middle, whose stinging shot is well beaten away by Illan Meslier.

Leeds 0-0 Wolves (45 mins)

Joao Moutinho puffs out his cheeks as he retreats back towards his own half and wins a free-kick. Think he's happy to get a quick breather from the constant Leeds pressure. Illan Meslier is decisive in coming out to punch clear the set-piece.

TOUCH TIGHT - No room for error out there
Premier League - Leeds United v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Leeds 0-0 Wolves (40 mins)

Wolves didn't learn from the earlier corner which Patrick Bamford put in from an offside position as the ball is rolled out to the unmarked Jack Harrison on the end of the box, his effort deflects behind and from the next corner Rui Patricio shows safe hands to deny Rodrigo Moreno at the back post.

Ready to pounce
Leeds 0-0 Wolves (34 mins)

Pedro Neto has been Wolves' brightest spark in the opening half an hour, he's looking to get to the byline and take on his man every time he gets the ball. He wins a corner this time, which Raul Jimenez volleys over the bar after a decent delivery to the near post.

STAT!

Despite Leeds having 67% possession, Patrick Bamford has had the fewest touches of any player on the pitch so far (6).

Leeds 0-0 Wolves (31 mins)

Leeds are knocking on the door a bit firmer now, with Luke Ayling's driven shot well cleared by Max Kilman in his own six-yard box. Good defending as that looked like it was nestling in the bottom corner.
