The Scout's panel of experts discuss their go-to captains for 2019/20 Fantasy Premier League.
Mohamed Salah (LIV) £12.5m
The Egyptian has been an FPL sensation since arriving at Liverpool in the summer of 2017.
Salah has finished as the top-scoring player in FPL in successive seasons, firing 54 goals and supplying a further 24 assists.
It's no surprise that he is the most-owned midfielder or forward in the game for 2019/20 and sits in 36.9 per cent of squads.
Only team-mate Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m), with 43.6 per cent, is owned by more.
The underlying statistics highlight why Salah is such a consistent performer for Fantasy managers.
His totals of 137 shots and 64 shots on target were more than any other player last term.
Liverpool face Norwich City at home in Gameweek 1 so Salah is sure to be a big armband favourite from the very start of the season.
What the experts say
Holly Shand (@FFCommunity_): My go-to captain pick. I'll probably be giving Salah the armband in most of the opening Gameweeks. He's the star FPL player and might take more penalties this season, too. He's captain-able against any opposition, home or away.
Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily): I always look to have two or three players in my team who I would be happy to captain in any Gameweek. Salah is an obvious set-and-forget pick. With back-to-back Golden Boots and a Liverpool team full of goals over the last season, he should fire regardless of fixtures.
Neal Thurman (@nealjthurman): Liverpool don't really have a ready-made replacement to allow him to rotate. There's also a solid argument that he has some significant upside over his performance from last season, when he was still the top-scoring player across all positions.
Lee Bonfield (@FPLFamily): As top FPL points scorer for the last two seasons, he is an obvious choice. You get what you pay for at £12.5m. With 22 goals last season and plenty of assists and bonus points, I'm expecting Salah to go big again.
Tom (@WGTA_FPL): Entering his third season at Anfield, Salah remains my odds-on favourite to retain his title as the highest-scoring FPL asset.
FPL General (@FPLGeneral): One of the first players in my team and I haven't thought for a second about removing him. He's just so consistent. You could even make a case for leaving the armband on him for the first five Gameweeks.
