Ashley Barnes followed up his decisive Premier League strike in the 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend with two more goals as Burnley beat Cardiff City 3-1 for their first win in this season's Premier League Cup.
Patrick Bamford, an unused substitute against the Eagles, put the Clarets ahead from close range in the 20th minute before Barnes headed their second.
Macauley Southam pulled one back for the Bluebirds before the break but Barnes confirmed the victory with a volley just before the hour mark.
