Aston Villa have completed their first summer signing in right-back Matty Cash from Nottingham Forest.
The 23-year-old, who can also play as a winger, joins Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.
“It’s such a big football club, from the fanbase to the stadium. Every time I played at Villa Park before it just sold itself to me," Cash told the club's official website.
“It’s been a crazy journey from the age of 17, getting released at Wycombe Wanderers to kicking on. I’m coming off a good season and I’m ready to take that into the Premier League."
Cash's message to the Villa fans
Cash played 42 times in the Championship last term, producing three goals and five assists.
That form won him Forest's Player of the Season award and his new head coach believes Villa have secured the services of a top defender for years to come.
“We are delighted to welcome Matty and believe we have secured one of England’s brightest young prospects," Dean Smith added.
The Englishman will hope to make his Premier League debut when Villa begin their campaign at home to Sheffield United on 20 September.
