A first-half strike from Cesc Fabregas earned Chelsea a 1-0 win over Sunderland as they moved six points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The Spain midfielder netted his first goal of the season from 18 yards to hand Chelsea a 10th straight league win.

Adnan Januzaj had gone close to giving Sunderland the lead at Stadium of Light before Pedro was denied by Jordan Pickford.

The decisive moment came five minutes before the interval when Fabregas swept home Willian’s pass from 18 yards.

Chelsea's Willian nearly doubled their lead when his effort hit the crossbar before another grazed the post.
