The Bonus Points
Cesc Fabregas (£6.9m) claimed the maximum bonus points in Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Sunderland.
Handed a second start in three Gameweeks, the Spaniard earned a score of 39 in the Fantasy Premier League Bonus Point System (BPS).
This was thanks to his first-half goal at the Stadium of Light and completing 83% of 117 attempted passes, five of which created goalscoring chances.
Chelsea's defensive trio of Cesar Azpilicueta (£6.3m), Gary Cahill (£6.3m) and Marcos Alonso (£6.3m) also collected additional points as the Blues enjoyed an eighth clean sheet in the last 10 Premier League fixtures.
Azpilicueta tallied 34 in the BPS to claim two bonus points, making eight clearances, blocks and interceptions (CBI), two successful tackles and five recoveries.
Cahill and Alonso each collected a single bonus point, scoring 28 in the BPS.
The centre-back produced three CBI and a pair of successful tackles, in addition to completing 90% of 40 attempted passes.
Alonso registered five CBI, four recoveries and two completed tackles. He was also successful with 81% of 43 attempted passes.
The Scout Notes
Azpilicueta and Cahill are the top-scoring defenders in FPL, on 77 points and 74 points respectively.
The Spaniard has also collected 12 bonus points, at least double any defensive team-mate.
Alonso has averaged 6.1 points a match since his first appearance in Gameweek 6, more than any FPL defender.
Fabregas looks set to push Nemanja Matic (£5.1m) for starts over the festive period after producing FPL points in each of the last three Gameweeks.
Eden Hazard (£10.5m) missed out with a knock in Sunday's win over West Bromwich Albion. He could return for Chelsea's Gameweek 17 visit to Crystal Palace but FPL managers are not so patient and Hazard has been sold more than any other FPL player ahead of Saturday's 11.30am deadline.
