Erling Haaland says he feels he has achieved "something special" in breaking the Premier League's longstanding single-season goals record.
After scoring his 35th goal of a remarkable campaign in Manchester City's 3-0 win over West Ham United, Haaland says he could not even have contemplated surpassing legends like Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer in his debut Premier League season.

"It feels a bit unreal to be honest," Haaland said. "I wasn't thinking of this kind of record when I came here and to break it means I've done something special. I'm really, really proud of this moment.
"I have to thank my team-mates for making it possible and Pep and all the trainers for making the tactics so I can score the goals!"

Not only did Haaland have Pep Guardiola to thank for helping him score so many goals.
The Man City manager also arranged a post-match guard of honour to celebrate the Norwegian's latest achievement.
"It was something Pep did!" Haaland explained. "My back hurts a lot now, I got a lot of slaps! It was a nice moment."

And Haaland was keen to give thanks to one of his team-mates in particular, revealing he planned to combine with Jack Grealish to score his record-breaking goal.
"Me and Jack spoke about it," Haaland said. "He wanted to get the assist for the record-breaking goal. It was perfect. It was a nice goal!"
Couldn’t have wanted it to go to a nicer guy. It’s only taken 28 years!!!! He’s the best 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 https://t.co/r803OWZHKk
