Fulham's resistance against Man City lasted 31 minutes before Julian Alvarez’s second league goal of the season broke the deadlock, after he was set up by Erling Haaland.
However, Marco Silva’s side were level two minutes later. City failed to deal with Raul Jimenez’s shot from a corner and the ball broke to Tim Ream, who had the simple task of tapping into an empty net.
City went back in front on the stroke of half-time after Nathan Ake headed in from Phil Foden’s corner, with Fulham’s protests for Manuel Akanji being offside for interference being waved away.
The champions then put the contest to bed when Haaland swept in on 58 minutes for his first home league goal of the season, before he converted a penalty 12 minutes later to make it 4-1.
In netting the spot-kick, Haaland was involved in 50 goals in the Premier League (41 goals and nine assists), breaking another record in the process. Haaland reached that tally in his 39th appearance, four quicker than the previous mark set by Andrew Cole.
And Haaland completed his first hat-trick of the season as he placed the ball into the bottom corner from substitute Sergio Gomez's low cross.

It was Vincent Kompany's side who made a brilliant start as Lyle Foster converted in the fourth minute from close range after a Luca Koleosho cutback.
Spurs eventually settled into the contest and Son scored his first Premier League goal of the season when he clipped the ball over Burnley's onrushing goalkeeper James Trafford.
Cristian Romero then put Spurs in front in first-half stoppage time with a stunning long-range strike that clipped a post and went in. He has now scored in two away matches this season.
Spurs took complete control in the 54th minute when James Maddison curled in a wonderful strike from range as he scored in a second successive Premier League match.
Son then scored twice in four second-half minutes to complete his hat-trick, finishing from Manor Solomon's pass for his second before latching on to an outstanding pass from Pedro Porro to register his fourth Premier League treble.
Josh Brownhill netted a consolation in the fourth minute of stoppage time as Burnley remain pointless after their first three matches of the season.

After a goalless first half, Forest shocked the hosts by taking the lead three minutes after the restart. The Swede raced in on goal after latching on to Taiwo Awoniyi’s excellent pass and calmly stroked the ball into the bottom-right corner.
Clear-cut opportunities were at a premium for Chelsea, but when one did come along, Nicolas Jackson poked over the crossbar from Raheem Sterling's cutback.
Thiago Silva forced a late save from Matt Turner, but Forest held on for an historic victory to move above the Blues to 11th in the table.

It didn’t take long for Brentford to open the scoring against Bournemouth as Mathias Jensen scored a brilliant free-kick from an acute angle in the seventh minute.
Bournemouth fought back in the 30th minute through Dominic Solanke, who raced in behind the Brentford defence before cutting the ball back on to his stronger right foot and slotting into the bottom-left corner.
Brentford struck the woodwork for a second time through substitute Keane Lewis-Potter, and those missed opportunities proved costly.
A poor backpass by Rico Henry was intercepted by Marcus Tavernier, and he played the ball across to David Brooks, who showed excellent composure to round Mark Flekken and tap into an empty net for his first Premier League goal since recovering from Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Mbeumo made amends in the third minute of second-half stoppage time, though, racing on to a long pass from Nathan Collins before sliding the ball under Neto to equalise.
Brentford continue their unbeaten start, having drawn three and won one of their opening four matches.
