Sorare, the global sports entertainment company, has launched its first-ever licensed 3D digital football player cards and new augmented reality (AR) features to mark the 2023/24 football season.

Through this launch, Sorare is further redefining what it means to be a sports fan, offering fans digital cards of their favourite players that they collect and truly own, and that have real utility in exciting competitions and gameplay with a deluxe design.

To continue improving gameplay experiences for its community, Sorare has leveraged innovative technology to bring an enhanced design and more interactivity to its digital football cards. As well as being able to collect and play with brand new 3D-designed cards of players like Erling Haaland, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, and Enzo Fernández - featuring dynamic new player headshots, backgrounds and colours - Sorare Managers now also have the unique opportunity to bring them into the real world through augmented reality features accessible on the Sorare mobile app.

The first cards to be launched with the new design and features will be of players in the Premier League, with auctions of these cards beginning on 13th September. Sorare intends to roll the new cards out more broadly, and for this to eventually be the standard specification for all cards of the 2023/24 season.

Ahead of the cards’ official launch, Sorare will also be running a Scavenger Hunt for its community. Each week, Sorare will post a teaser video on social media, in which users will have to unmask a set of hidden words. The first user to put all the words in the correct order will win Sorare rare cards as well as real life prizes such as a VIP matchday ticket, an invitation to a team training session and a “Fly with the Team” experience with a leading European club.

Commenting on the launch, Adrien Montfort, CTO and co-founder at Sorare said: “At Sorare, we want to bridge the gap between online and physical sports fandom to better serve our community of fans. With that in mind, we are always working to provide the best gameplay experience and to make sure it improves year after year. We are delighted to be launching new cards, new designs, and new features to mark the new football season, so Sorare Managers can own cards that feel special, and interact with and show them off to the world. This is the latest step in our long-term strategy to build a generational product that combines innovative technology and cutting edge design to transform the sports fan experience.”

Gerard Pique, entrepreneur and Sorare investor, said: “Sorare is breaking down barriers to how football fans all over the world can engage with their favourite players and teams. These innovations around the design and interactivity of Sorare’s already cutting-edge cards will have a huge impact on each player’s brand development and help them, their teams and leagues engage with new global football audiences.”

John Nellis, Football and Sorare content creator, said: “It’s incredible to see how much emphasis Sorare places on continued growth and innovation for the benefit of the Sorare community. Thanks to these features, a new level of utility is being brought to Sorare cards that will give Managers like myself a new way to showcase their collections and interact with their favourite cards in real life. Being a part of the Sorare community, I appreciate how much effort and thought is being put into making the product bigger and better, and I cannot wait to see what Sorare has in store next.”

Will Brass, Chief Commercial Officer at the Premier League, said: “The new 3D cards and AI functionality from Sorare are an exciting addition for Premier League fans and Sorare Managers. The way that supporters choose to follow their favourite teams and players is evolving, and the Premier League is proud to be working with our partners at Sorare on this kind of innovation.”
