For the second time this week, Manchester United host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford after their restorative 3-0 win over  in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag is hoping to secure back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time this season.

United have endured an inconsistent start to the campaign, with Ten Hag's side winning as many matches as they have lost, their only victories coming against promoted Burnley, as well as Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers, both of whom only pulled away from the relegation zone in the final few weeks of last season.

Team news

United will be without Lisandro Martinez due to the aggravation of a previous injury, while Sergio Reguilon also looks set to miss out.

Midfield duo Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen are available for United after not being involved midweek. Meanwhile, Mason Mount and Harry Maguire will both continue to be managed carefully after recently returning from injury. Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Kobbie Mainoo and Tyrell Malacia all remain out.

As for Palace, Odsonne Edouard, who has started the season in fine form, is out with a muscle injury and there are question marks over Jairo Riedewald and Dean Henderson who both came off during Tuesday's match. Michael Olise, Matheus Franca, Jefferson Lerma and James Tomkins are all also expected to remain sidelined.

Last five meetings

18 Jan 2023: Crystal Palace 1-1 Man Utd
22 May 2022: Crystal Palace 1-0 Man Utd

Key facts

Man Utd have conceded five goals in their last two home Premier League matches (two v Forest, three v Brighton & Hove Albion), only one fewer than in their previous 17 such home matches combined (six).

Palace manager Roy Hodgson is unbeaten in his last four trips to Old Trafford in the Premier League (W2 D2) having lost each of his first seven visits beforehand. No manager has gone unbeaten in five consecutive away Premier League games against Man Utd.

Having won 16 of their first 20 Premier League games against Palace, United have won just three of their last eight against them or 37.5 per cent.

Palace are one of two teams, along with Luton Town, yet to score in the first half of a Premier League match this season, attempting 35 shots without success. In all of 2023 the Eagles have only scored six times in the first half in 28 league matches, half of those coming against West Ham United in April.

What the managers had to say

Ten Hag: "Both sides will be different. We got belief from it [Tuesday's win], but I know the opponent is looking for revenge. That will be their fuel."

Hodgson: “We don’t go there with any inferiority complex. We go there thinking the team that will start is capable of getting a result at Manchester United, just like we’ve believed in the past. Words are words and actions are actions and we’ll have to play very, very well if we are to get anything from the game.”
