John McGinn said that he and his Aston Villa team-mates will be cheering for Manchester City when Pep Guardiola's title-chasing side visit Villa's top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.
Villa are on the brink of securing qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League after they drew 3-3 at home to Liverpool. They will secure a top-four finish if Spurs fail to beat Man City, as Villa are currently five points ahead having played one game more than the north London side.
"Some of us have never been close to Champions League football in our life, so the goal for us is massive," McGinn told Sky Sports.
"Throughout the season I think what's gone under the radar is you hear about everyone's injuries, and I don't want to compare ourselves to other teams, but the manager has a 'no excuse mentality'. We've not used it as an excuse and people have been writing us off all throughout the year and we've just floated under the radar nicely.
"We're so, so close to fourth position now and we'll get the Man City tops on tomorrow night and see what happens."

Meanwhile, Villa head coach Unai Emery said that he would be too busy preparing for the team’s final match of the season, away at Crystal Palace on Sunday, to watch Spurs take on Man City.
“Tomorrow I’m going to watch our match from today and analyse [it],” Emery said.
“I’ll also watch Crystal Palace. I am only thinking about Sunday.”
