Alex Keble looks at what Ipswich Town need to do in the summer transfer window to improve their squad.

Ipswich Town

The speed with which Ipswich have come up through the divisions makes it very difficult to ascertain how their style of football will work at Premier League level, and it would likely be a mistake to replace too many of the current crop.

Experience is what they need most of all. That is always the case with promoted teams, and it’s what all three of last season’s promoted clubs lacked, apart from Luton Town’s success with Ross Barkley.

A new centre-forward is also a top priority.

Ipswich scored 88 goals from an Expected Goals (xG) of 75.1 last season, which is the sort of overperformance you cannot expect to replicate in the Premier League, while strikers George Hirst and Kieffer Moore only scored seven league goals apiece.

Key positions to target: Centre-back, centre-forward
