Former AFC Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly has joined Newcastle United as a free agent, reuniting with his former boss Eddie Howe.
Kelly, 25, spent five years at the Cherries and has moved to St James' Park ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season. He has signed a long-term contract and will wear the no 25 shirt.

“It's amazing to be coming here. I know how big the club is and how much it means to all the fans, and I just want to hit the ground running and get to work,” Kelly told the club's website.
“It’s a big move for myself and the family - of course being down south is a bit different - but I think the city of Newcastle is amazing, with the contrast between city life and the countryside.
“It wasn't a hard decision for me to come here. Working with the gaffer previously, I know what he wants from his players and how he wants his players to play, and I think with what I can bring it just makes sense. I just can't wait to get started.”
Kelly appeared 23 times in 2023/24, helping Andoni Iraola’s side exceed expectations to finish 12th.
Howe will aim to finish within the European places this campaign and has called upon the help of his former player to reinforce the defence.
The Magpies were hit with injuries during the 2023/24 season, especially in the defensive department, with Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Kieran Trippier being sidelined for extensive periods.
Only two defenders managed over 30 matches, they being Fabian Schar and Dan Burn.
