The Scout's panel of Fantasy Premier League experts give their thoughts on who to captain in Gameweek 1 ahead of the deadline at 18:30 BST on Friday 16 August.

With players still missing at Manchester City, I might not go for Erling Haaland (£15.0m) and instead opt for Bukayo Saka (£10.0m), playing at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers in an Arsenal team that seems to have slipped right back into their groove in pre-season.

Az Phillips (@FPLBlackBox_Az)

A close call between Alexander Isak (£8.5m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.5m). But the home fixture versus Southampton just about swings it in the Swede's favour.

Newcastle have the best fixture on paper, so I'm likely to back Isak, who has a full pre-season behind him.

Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

Haaland braced in this fixture last season and scored a hat-trick against Chelsea during pre-season. Salah, Isak and Son Heung-min (£10.0m) all have attractive fixtures against promoted teams.

I am handing the armband to Isak, but I do like Diogo Jota (£7.5m), owned by only 12 per cent of managers, as a differential captain, with the Portuguese star, classified as a midfielder in FPL, looking set to start out of position as a centre-forward for Liverpool

Holly Shand (@HollyShand)

I can't look past Haaland, who has been sharp in pre-season. He's produced a brace on the road in each of his Gameweek 1 performances over the last two seasons.

Ben Crabtree (@FC_CrabDogg)

Isak has a great goals-per-game record since joining Newcastle and has had a strong pre-season. He edges out Haaland.
